Today, Monday, the Commander of the US Africa Command (AFRICOM), General Dagvin Anderson, arrived in Algeria on an official visit, according to what the US Embassy in Algeria announced.
Anderson began his visit by heading to the shrine of the martyr, where he laid a wreath of flowers as a “token.” He laid a wreath of flowers as a “token of respect for the history of Algeria and the sacrifices of its people.”
AFRICOM is a military command affiliated with the US Department of Defense (Pentagon), established in 2007 and headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany. It carries out the tasks of coordinating US military operations in Africa, supporting and training African forces, and combating terrorism, in addition to carrying out humanitarian and security missions when needed.
This visit coincided with the arrival of US Deputy Secretary of State, Christopher Landau, in Algeria on an official working visit, which reflects the movement in communication between the two countries.
