15 crore 90 lakh 80 thousand 146 taka has been collected from the donation box of the historic Pagla mosque in Kishoreganj.
This calculation was found after counting at 9:30 on Saturday night. This is the new record of this mosque to get so much money in the donation box.
Additional District Magistrate and Convener of Danbox Opening Committee Mohammad Ershadul Ahmed confirmed this information.
Earlier, on December 27 last year, the donation box was opened and Rs 35 bags were found. At that time, 11 crore 78 lakh 48 thousand 538 taka was deposited in the donation box in 3 months and 27 days. Foreign currency, gold and silver are also available.
The donation boxes were opened at around 7am on Saturday. In the past, the donation box was opened every 4 months, but this time it was opened after 6 months.
The donation boxes were opened under the supervision of Mohammad Ershadul Ahmed, Additional District Magistrate and Convener of the donation box opening committee. Deputy Commissioner and Pagla Mosque Management Committee President Sohana Nasreen and Additional Superintendent of Police Nazmus Saqib were present at the time.
The money taken out of the donation box is first filled in sacks and taken to the second floor of the mosque. There, pouring on the floor, the counting began. 110 people from Madrasa attached to Pagla Mosque, 300 students of Al-Jamiatul Imdadiya Madrasa, 33 employees of the mosque, 130 officers-employees of Rupali Bank and members of law and order took part in counting the money.
Deputy Commissioner Sohana Nasreen said that the fund of Pagla Mosque currently has a total of Tk 114 crore 13 lakh 7 thousand 352.
He said, Pagla Mosque’s own website has been launched for donors from home and abroad. Donations can easily be sent to mosques from anywhere in the world through online and mobile banking through this platform.
The Deputy Commissioner also said that the Bengali version of the website has also been launched. So far donations of Tk 24 lakh 76 thousand 882 have come through the online platform, which is a reflection of the growing interest of people in the digital donation process.
Superintendent of Police Mohammad Mizanur Rahman said that strict security measures are taken in the entire process from opening the donation box to counting the money and delivering it to the bank.
The authorities of Pagla Mosque said that a Hafizia Madrasah was established next to the mosque in 2002 with the money of Pagla Mosque. Currently 130 orphan children are studying in this madrasa. They are given all their sustenance and clothes from the money of the mosque. The income and expenditure audit of Pagla Masjid is done in September or October every year by the Wakf State Auditor.
