A new staff development program has been introduced at the Institute of Theater and Cinema

A new stage of development has started at the Yerevan State Institute of Theater and Cinema. A modern coloring laboratory has been created at the university, where students master the DaVinci program acquired with the support of the “Stepan Gishyan” charitable foundation. Through the program, students now have the ability to control the light of the shot, the correct play of shadows, color harmony, depth, and more.

The Yerevan State Institute of Theater and Cinema is one of the beneficiaries of the 2025 grant competition of the Stepan Gishyan Charity Foundation, with the support of which the coloring room was created.

“The main goal of the project is to give especially final year students the opportunity to create quality films and participate in international festivals. Students will work with the DaVinci program, which is the newest and most powerful tool for processing footage. The program includes not only coloring, but also sound and visual effects toolkit,” said Anna Gishyan, director of the “Stepan Gishyan” charitable foundation.

Thanks to the “Stepan Gishyan” Foundation, we become unique. Until today, coloring has not been taught in Armenia, no matter how strange it sounds. We changed our educational programs, now the students can fully apply the new program in the post-production stage,” said Sara Nalbandian, rector of the Yerevan State Institute of Theater and Cinema.

“Stepan Gishyan” charitable foundation was created by Akba Bank, French Credit Agricole, Credit Agricole National Federation and Stepan Gishyan’s family. The Foundation’s programs are aimed at strengthening Armenian-French relations, improving and improving Armenia’s socio-economic, scientific-educational, cultural, and healthcare systems.
