After being banned from participating in the World Cup, by a racist decision from the administration of US President Donald Trump, today, Somali football referee, Omar Artan, received news that might raise his morale a little.
The decision to ban the referee from entering American territory caused a global shock and voices condemned the decision, except for FIFA, which adopted the ostrich policy.
The referee returned to his country, where he received a hero’s welcome.
Today, the European Football Association announced, via a post on its official Facebook page, that the Somali club will officiate the European Super Cup match that will bring together Paris Saint-Germain, the winner of the European Champions League, and Aston Villa, the winner of the European League Cup. The match will take place in the Austrian city of Salzburg.
