The National Police reported the arrest of a subject known by the alias of “Chema”preliminarily identified as the person allegedly responsible for the death of the second sergeant Albis Espinozaduring an operation in the town of El Chorrillo, an event recorded on the night of Sunday, April 12.
The capture occurred in the midst of operational actions deployed after the event, in a rapid intervention by police units. The detainee was placed under the orders of the Public Ministry, which is carrying out the corresponding investigations.
Sergeant Espinoza received a gunshot wound to the chest while on duty. After being injured, he was transferred to a medical center to receive specialized care; However, his death was later confirmed due to the severity of the injury, despite the efforts of health personnel.
The National Police expressed its condolences to family, friends and colleagues, and highlighted the work, dedication and commitment of the uniformed personnel in the performance of their duty. Likewise, he reiterated that he will continue with the operations to guarantee security and that this case will not go unpunished.
