WHAT BEGAN as part of the 2026 Shafia London Business Challenge has grown into something far deeper ; a movement rooted in purpose, culture, and opportunity.
Students of the Girls’ High School, through their initiative D’ Hairouna Essence, hosted a hands-on creative experience that brought children together in a space filled with colour, laughter, and learning on Thursday, April 9, 2026.
Participants from the age of 4 to 14 years engaged in bracelet making, painting, and tie-dye which are all simple crafts with powerful meaning. These young organisers are not simply completing a business project; they are responding to a real need they identified in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. They believe that local craft is not just a hobby, but a pathway to self-employment, independence, and economic survival.
Through this initiative, they are showing that practical skills can become income- generating opportunities, especially for young people seeking alternative ways to support themselves. While the Challenge
