The reception of the Coca Codo Sinclair hydroelectric plant will take place at the end of this week, the Minister of Environment and Energy, Inés Manzano, confirmed this Monday, April 13, 2026.
“It is important to do so, because it is the first time that this process that has been going on for more than ten years has been resolved, but what is also important is that it is resolved with the guarantees and the same arbitration award says that if there are hidden defects or if there is something else that was not declared, we are not giving a safe passage to Sinohydro, through Powerchina, which would be the one that would do the operation and maintenance if we finish reaching an agreement,” he indicated.
The minister explained that the work will be received with all the guarantees and thus the process of operation and maintenance of the structure will begin.
There is a warranty specifically for distributors and the cracks are always being fixed, Manzano said.
Powerchina will take charge through an associative regulation, which once approved in these days will return to the final working tables to finalize. (YO)
