USR Sector 5 requests transparency regarding the promotion boards of mayor Vlad Popescu Piedone, considering that it is obvious that it is not about solutions for citizens, but about a campaign of image paid for with public money.
“USR Sector 5 draws attention to the non-transparent way in which the public money of the residents of Sector 5 is spent, in the context of the appearance of billboards in several areas of the sector, in which the mayor Vlad Popescu Piedone promotes his personal image”, according to a statement.
According to USR, these light panels include the mayor’s photo and the message “Do you have a problem and think we can solve it?”, accompanied by a QR code that citizens are encouraged to scan.
“It is obvious that we are not talking about solutions for citizens, but about an image campaign paid for with public money. In this context, USR Sector 5 requests the mayor of Sector 5 to urgently make public the contract on the basis of which these panels were rented, as well as the exact source of funding”, the statement reads.
“These billboards are just disguised political advertising. We are publicly asking for the contract and the costs, transparency is not optional. We want to know who pays for these billboards, how much they cost and under which contract they were rented. Citizens have the right to know how their money is spent,” said Iustinian Roșca, president of USR Sector 5.
USR Sector 5 warns that it will continue to monitor this situation and use all legal tools to ensure transparency and accountability of local administration.
