He added: According to this plan, credit for the purchase of food baskets for 159 thousand 635 children in “very needy” households with the amount of 26 million Rials and for 29 thousand 285 children in the “needy with moderate economic capacity” households with the amount of 16 million Rials has been considered and deposited into the account of the heads of the households.
Emphasizing the priority of the children’s food security program in the 14th government, Zanganeh said: with the aim of reducing food poverty and preventing irreparable damage to children’s physical and mental development, a special support basket has been designed and implemented for more than 188,000 malnourished children between the ages of 5 and 59 months.
Explaining the financial details of this project, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Cooperative Welfare added: The allocated credit amounts are divided into two categories based on the income level of the households; In such a way that for children living in very needy households with low economic capacity, an amount of 26 million rials has been allocated and for children living in needy households with an average economic capacity, an amount of 16 million rials has been allocated for the purchase of food baskets.
He said: These credits are determined for the provision of food items approved by the Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Education and are processed and charged through the “National Credit Network” based on the national number of the head of the household. Heads of eligible households can use this credit within a one-month period in all stores of the electronic catalog party throughout the country to purchase specified items.
About the process of identifying eligible children, Zanganeh said: Children included in this plan are identified by monitoring anthropometric indicators including weight, height and comparing them with growth curves in homes and health centers, and after the information is collected by universities of medical sciences, the data will be sent to the Ministry of Cooperation, Labor and Social Welfare to perform a detailed eligibility assessment based on the extensive test and the Iranian welfare database. This process is designed to ensure the correct allocation of support to the most disadvantaged sections of society and to prevent errors in payments.
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Cooperation’s Welfare Deputy said: The continuation of the implementation of this program in 1404 shows the government’s commitment to improving children’s food security, and due to the provision of necessary credits in the 1405 budget bill and efforts to increase the amount of support, planning for the continuation and expansion of this plan in the coming months, including June and after that, is being implemented.
