“Trump is the first president in decades – it’s hard for me to find another American president in recent history who has much more affinity for Poland than for Germany, and we should make use of that,” said Law and Justice (PiS) MEP Adam Bielan.
President Karol Nawrocki held a phone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump, during which he thanked the American leader for “his engagement and contribution to securing the release of Andrzej Poczobut” – the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland announced overnight from Sunday to Monday on X.
According to the Presidential Chancellery, the two presidents also discussed the current security situation. An important topic of the conversation was issues related to the presence of U.S. troops in Europe.
“Trump Has More Affinity for Poland Than for Germany”
Speaking about Polish-American relations, also in the context of the presidents’ overnight call, Law and Justice (PiS) MEP Adam Bielan appeared today on TVN24.
“Trump is the first president in decades – it’s hard for me to find another American president in recent history who has much more affinity for Poland than for Germany, and we should make use of that. Not to weaken Germany in Washington, because that is not our task, but to ensure that Poland does not lose out on the changes that have been in preparation for many months,” he indicated.
He added: “Karol Nawrocki – I witnessed this myself, for example in September last year – held talks on increasing the number of American troops in our country.”
He also pointed to a contrast between President Nawrocki’s actions and what he described as the anti-American stance of the Polish prime minister, Donald Tusk.
“Donald Tusk, through successive posts on Twitter – and I would remind you that three years ago, at an election rally, he officially accused Trump of acting as an agent, claiming that for 30 years Trump had supposedly worked for the Russians – has never withdrawn those words or apologized, so Tusk is doing exactly the opposite,” he stressed.
