The tragedy struck the city of Venice this Tuesday. A 25-year-old Tunisian national, from the delegation of Chebika in the governorate of Kairouan, lost his life by drowning, as confirmed by Chokri Dahesh, director of EURO Maghreb radio.
According to the details provided by Mr. Dahesh, the young man was in Italy in an irregular situation. Suffering from a hand disability and not knowing how to swim, the victim accidentally fell into the waters of the lakeside city. Despite the heroic intervention of two tourists who tried to help him, the young man could not be saved.
The body was finally recovered by Italian rescue teams. An investigation was immediately opened by local authorities to determine the exact circumstances of this tragic accident.
