Alex Ligertwoodwho for more than a decade was the voice of the legendary band Santanadied on April 30 at the age of 79.
The news was announced this Saturday by his wife, Shawn Brogan, through an emotional message that she published on her Facebook account, and in which she revealed that He died peacefully and next to Bobo, his faithful pet.
“Alex was very loved by many. If you knew him, you loved him. He moved many people with his extraordinary voice. It was pure passion and dedication,” he wrote along with several photographs of the singer.

Brogan added that music accompanied Alex until his last days; And, as he explained, he went on stage just a few weeks ago.
“What she loved most was making music, singing and sharing her talent. I am grateful for that. She did it her way, on her own terms, until the end,” she added in the message, which closed with a farewell: “I will always love you, my sweet Alex.”
Although the causes of his death are unknown. According to Page Six, the musician was facing various health problems that deteriorated his condition.
Originally from Scotland, Ligertwood was part of Santana, a band led by Carlos Santana, between 1979 and 1994; stage in which he participated in albums such as “Marathon”, “Zebop!” and “Sacred Fire: Live in South America.”
His voice was recorded in songs like “You Know That I Love You”, “Winning” and “Hold On”, songs that marked one of the most popular periods of the band led by Carlos Santana.
Additionally, he collaborated with groups and projects such as Jeff Beck Group, Average White Band and Senate.
The news of his death caused immediate reactions among musicians and fans. The tribute band “The Magic of Santana,” with which Ligertwood performed in recent years, mourned the singer’s death on social media.
“We shared a wonderful trip with him and we learned a lot about music, passion and friendship. He was one of the best singers on the planet and we will miss him very much. Thank you, Alex, for everything,” they wrote.
