New details have come to light from the gruesome murder of the former finalist of “Miss Switzerland”, Kristina Joksimovic, who was allegedly killed by her husband after a fierce conflict between them. According to Swiss media, 41-year-old Marc Rieben is accused of strangling the 38-year-old model and then trying to eliminate the traces of the crime by dismembering her body.
The serious incident took place in February 2022 in Binningen, near Basel, while investigations have revealed that the couple had ongoing arguments about divorce, child custody and financial problems. According to the court documents, during the debate, the author allegedly grabbed the victim by the throat and slammed her against the wall, before strangling her.
Swiss investigators claim that after the crime, the 41-year-old man dismembered the body with cutting tools and gardening equipment, while some parts of the body were “ground” in an industrial blender and dissolved with a chemical solution. The forensic report rejected the author’s claim of “self-defense”, emphasizing that the victim had died as a result of drowning.
According to the investigation file, the author has insisted that the incident happened in self-defense, but the prosecutors have spoken of “lack of empathy and cold-bloodedness” behind the crime. Swiss authorities have also discovered evidence of mental health problems in the suspect.
The victim’s body was found by family members in the laundry room of the apartment, while the police seized the industrial blender and remains of the body at the scene. The event has been described as one of the most shocking crimes of recent years in Switzerland.
Kristina Joksimovic was a finalist of “Miss Switzerland” in 2007 and then ran a business as a model trainer.
