Examples of the week.
“Andrei Gyurov is the main name we are discussing for a presidential candidate.” This is what the deputy chairman of “Prodluvame Promyanata” Academician Nikolay Denkov told journalists in response to a question about whether there will be a general proposal for a presidential candidate.
Denkov again, in front of Darik radio: “We continue the change” organized the December protests last December, and “Yes, Bulgaria” joined“.
Ibid.: “The separation (of the PP from the DB) was carried out in order to act together on many subjects”.
To comment on the candidacy of Gyurov, who is still acting prime minister and claims to be equally distant from the political forces, is unreasonable, – the DB reacted. Moreover, on 28.09.2025, Denkov says: “Blagomir Kotsev is suitable as a presidential candidate, he deserves to be discussed. He is a possibility for sure. Then he adds:Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev could also be promoted“.

Division would make strength…
At the same time, people from the PP share that Denkov himself dreams of being nominated for the head of state… It is also said that the team that shot the film about the “tense working day” (according to the standards of socialist realism) of the Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Georgi Kandev, was ready to produce one for Academician Denkov as well. Wonderful.
Nikolay Denkov is the speaker, but the idea and decision are Asen Vassilev’s, which brings PP dangerously close to Barbara Tuckman’s “Ode to Political Stupidity”.

In Koprivshtitsa, where there was a commemorative celebration of the 150th anniversary of the April Uprising, officials were present. Protocol decision, but some details make an impression.
For example, the presence of the GERB deputy and former interior minister Mladen Marinov. For years, this person has been associated with one of the bosses of the VIS power group – Meto Ilienski, who mysteriously disappeared some time ago. There is still talk in the public space that Marinov’s brother was Petyo Petrov’s driver – Petyo Evroto. It was a coincidence of names, some think, but the rumor exists…
A few years ago, GERB leader Boyko Borisov said on the occasion of the requested resignation of Marinov as interior minister: “Mladen Marinov, we are replacing him because some of the actions of the police during the protests categorically do not correspond to my understanding of the attitude towards protesting people. Secondly, because there was a declared protest at “Rosenets” and they (the Ministry of the Interior) had to ensure that it took place in such a way that no scandals, problems arise and, finally, people who have nothing to do with this process carry him away.”
The same Mladen Marinov obviously feels worthy to stand next to the portraits of Levski, Volov, Karavelov, Benkovski…
And Borisov wonders why his party lost about 200,000 votes on April 19. That’s why.
“The first sign of stupidity is believing you are always right“, Freud thinks. Borisov thinks otherwise. Borisov applies here. Still.

We go to the appearance of the week of Yanaki Stoilov, which caused emotional comments in the media and social networks. Prof. Stoilov is a former devoted member of the BSP, an eight-time member of parliament, a former minister of justice, and now a member of the Constitutional Court. Professor. Undoubtedly a successful man. Intelligent too.
Yanaki Stoilov, is a guest at BNT and unexpectedly (and perhaps expected for those who know him closely…) hints to the presenters and management that the yellow-blue combination in the studio is not appropriate. The hint is obvious: enough with the colors of the Ukrainian flag, paint the studio with the colors of the Bulgarian tricolor. Because the television is Bulgarian, right?

Van Gogh’s Sunflowers in Yellow and Blue…
The idea is patriotic. But are the colors the problem?
I will allow myself to recall that in quite a few paintings by Vincent van Gogh, yellow and blue dominate. They were his favorite because he believed that the sun and the sky represented life, day and night.
Later, this color combination was defined in this way. Renowned expert Therese-Marie Rein says: “Blue and yellow are an age-old concept of color harmony. This is choosing colors that work well together in the image. These are the first colors that a person perceives after birth and they accompany him throughout life, just as happiness and sadness accompany him“.
Happiness and sadness.

The Warner Bros. logo
These two colors were chosen for the logo of their Warner Bros company by Polish-Jewish brothers Harry, Albert, Sam and Jack Warner in 1923. Whether it helped them in business I don’t know, but the fact is that they started with an investment of 150 dollars, and their merger with Paramount Pictures is estimated at over 110 billion dollars…
What about our flag?
The tricolor variant of the Bulgarian flag appeared in the period 1861-1862. The colors are arranged horizontally and are in the following order: green, white, red. This flag is flown by the two Bulgarian legions of Georgi Rakovski. The genius Bulgarian used the Italian flag as an example, because it was strongly associated with the struggles of Italians for unification.
The Italian tricolor dates back to 1797.

We have also used Byzantine symbols and flags…
Let’s look further back in history. From the “Answers of Pope Nicholas to the Bulgarians” it is clear that before the adoption of Christianity, the Bulgarians used a horse’s tail as a military banner. How do you feel about something like that in a TV studio?
After the conversion of Bulgaria, flags similar to Byzantine flags are used in our kingdom. Such are the facts. Both blue and yellow were the preferred colors.
White, green and red – this is the tricolor today. But it is the job of artists, designers and architects to think about aesthetics.

Politicians’ “stupidity” is defined as incompetence, ignorance, short-term thinking or self-interested decision-making. This is terribly costly to states and people, because stupid decisions represent a disastrous friction between elites and citizens.
“The big problem facing the states is not the economy. The problem is stupid policiesJoseph Stiglitz, Nobel laureate in economics, professor at Columbia University, former chief economist of the World Bank, is emphatic.
In the cult show “Monty Python” they spoke on the subject a long time ago: “Some stupidity can divide the world like evolution or like … Karl Marx“.
The question is, should we remain silent? Are we paying?
“Stop making excuses“, advises the Bulgarian humanoid robot Robert from the Nova TV studio. Robert did not say anything about colors and design…
