Military and police have been deployed in different conflict zones on the first day of curfewwhich started at 11:00 p.m. this Sunday.
Minutes before the curfew came into effect, dozens of police officers left the Model Barracks on Sunday night heading to sectors considered to be highly conflictive in Guayaquil.
One of the key points of the operation was the district New Prosperinawhere agents carried out searches in homes previously identified through investigative work.
They are not random interventions, but planned, according to the Police.
The commander of Zone 8, Walter Villarroel, explained that the actions are guided by the investigative subsystem to identify people, gather information and establish possible links with ongoing investigations.
The Police reported that the operations are concentrated in sectors defined as “cores of lethality“, after a process of georeferencing the crime.
As part of the deployment, fixed and mobile operational controls have been installed throughout the city. In the twelve districts of Zone 8 – which covers Guayaquil, Durán and Samborondón – twenty five checkpointsnineteen mobile convoys and permanent patrols.
The goal is to run close to eighty daily raids in Zone 8, as part of a sustained offensive against criminal structures.
Among the prioritized sectors are New ProsperinaPascuales, Florida, the south of the city – including Esteros – and downtown areas, such as 9 de Octubre Avenue.
The Ministry of Defense indicated that more than 38,000 soldiers They intensify control, security and territorial presence operations throughout the country.
The State portfolio indicated that the Military High Command It will supervise all operations from the territory, with permanent presence, direct coordination and immediate response capacity. (YO)
