The guest singer of «Domenica In» replied to his ex-wife who had spoken about him to «Belve». “It’s not true that I wasn’t supportive of her”
Romina Power’s interview with Beasts. Guest of Francesca Fagnani, the singer retraced her long relationship with Al Bano, entrusting the story with harsh and accusations that did not go unnoticed. Romina described her ex-husband as a «support that has been missing», a definition that deeply hurt the Apulian singer. The artist admitted that he “didn’t like certain jokes at all”, entrusting his response to Sunday Inguest of Mara Venier. The most painful point concerns the accusations of selfishness and absence in crucial moments of family life. «I tried everything to save our union and our family. For me, family is sacred.”declared Carrisi, visibly exhausted. «Ylenia is alive only in our hearts. I have accepted the truth, it will never go away, but I don’t have any illusions. Romina, don’t kill me, I don’t deserve it: I know what I gave and you should know it well, because you received it. I was a pillar.”
“I was there, I’ve always been there, but she didn’t even see me.” He therefore remains at the center of the fracture the disappearance of their daughter Ylenia Carrisi, a tragedy that definitively marked their relationship. The singer recalls the weeks spent in New Orleans, between incessant searches and nights spent in the most difficult neighborhoods of the city: «A whole month, every night around with the inspector, in the places of crime and drug dealing». When he decided to leave, he specifies, it was not for work but because of the painful awareness that there was nothing left to do: “I had to accept this tragic reality.” Among the accusations, that of having been an absent father is the most difficult to accept. «I know I am a great father, I have always demonstrated it and I will continue to demonstrate it» he reiterated.
Yet, despite the tensions of the present, Carrisi does not deny the shared past: “We were together for 25 years, and we were truly happy.” The memory goes back to the beginning, to the meeting on the set of a film, to the shyness they shared, to those simple moments that gave birth to love. «I was struck by seeing her knitting», she says, also remembering «the crazy things» done for her, «the ones that can and must be done in love». Then tragedy changed everything. «In our relationship there was the good, and then came the bitter. The moment of light, but also that of night», he confided again. Despite the pain and misunderstandings, the desire remains that of a peaceful coexistence: “I wish we could all live in peace like a large extended family.” But it is precisely about Ylenia’s fate that an irreconcilable distance emerges. If Romina continues to believe that her daughter is still alive, “somewhere”also supported by meetings and personal convictions developed over the years, Carrisi opposes a vision marked by acceptance: «Ylenia is in Romina’s heart, she is in my heart. It is only there that she is alive.”
