Awsard Province, May 2, 2026 (SPS) Today, Saturday, the activities of the International Film Festival held in Awsard Province continued with the organization of workshops in which participants discussed topics and issues related to cinema and film production, human rights issues, and the right of return, based on the experiences of different peoples.
In this context, the cinema workshop focused on directing techniques and work techniques in this field and opened the opportunity for discussion for students of the Film School and foreign participants, where opinions and ideas were presented that would develop working methods in this field.
The return workshop discussed the experiences of different peoples, including the Sahrawi people, their resistance to occupation, and their clinging to their homelands
Regarding the importance of the workshop, Muhammad Suleiman, one of the participants in the workshop, stressed that its importance lies in that it explores the right of dignified return by reviewing experiences from different regions and demonstrating a person’s connection to his homeland and his strong relationship with it.
Soon from Norway, he is a film producer who says that he had the honor of participating in the film festival, where he had the opportunity to learn closely about the life and reality of the Sahrawi people for the first time. Regarding his participation in the discussion that took place in the right of return workshop, he confirms that he noticed that there are many things in common between the peoples who demand their rights, including the dignified right of return, despite the difference in geographical regions. He added, “I wish as a film producer to participate in cinematic works with Sahrawi producers to introduce the Sahrawi issue, especially in the countries of Europe.”
For reference, activists from the occupied territories, young people from Sahrawi refugee camps, and interested parties from European countries such as Norway and Spain participated in this workshop.
