Awsard Province, April 30, 2026 (SPS) – The activities of the International Film Festival, known by its abbreviation (In the Desert), continue with the screening of more documentaries and films and the organization of workshops on cinema.
Films by directors from different countries will participate in the 19th edition of the festival.

The Central Director of Cinema and Theater, Mr. Ahmed Mahmoud Ahmed Mahmoud Al-Mami, made a statement about the size of the participation, as he confirmed that a large number of directors and filmmakers came from about 25 different countries and continents, and that about 60 films scheduled to be shown during this demonstration essentially serve the slogan of this edition, which is “Walking towards our land,” and they all talk about the fight against colonialism and the struggle of the Sahrawi people and their struggle and resistance in order to achieve their freedom. And his independence.
Regarding the role of cinema in defending the cause of the Sahrawi people, Mr. Mohamed Ahmed highlighted that Sahrawi cinema, and specifically the National Film School, is greatly relied upon to play an important role in this field, given that it is the only school for the Sahrawi people so far.

On the other hand, the public and guests continue to visit the traditional Mahsar, where artistic teams from the Ministry of Culture perform artistic performances.
Guests and the younger generation will also have the opportunity to learn about desert culture in its various aspects.
It should be noted that these cinematic performances and the accompanying cultural activities will continue until May 3rd.
