Constantine (Algeria), April 30, 2026 (SPS) – In a distinguished scientific atmosphere, under the patronage of the Minister of Youth in charge of the Supreme Youth Council, and the Governor of the State of Constantine, the activities of the twenty-first edition of the National Festival of Public Astronomy were launched today, Thursday, April 30, 2026, organized by the Sirius Astronomy Society, in coordination with the Research Unit in Scientific Mediation of the Center for Research in Scientific and Technical Information (CERIST). Accompanied by the Directorate of Youth and Sports of Constantine Province.
The event witnessed great national and international participation, as the Sahrawi Republic participated alongside a number of countries in the festival, including Tunisia, Mauritania, South Africa, France, Spain, Switzerland, the United States of America, and Britain.
The opening ceremony witnessed the presence of the Sahrawi Consul in Constantine, Othman El Haj, who gave a speech in which he praised Algeria’s position towards the Sahrawi people, along with the Sahrawi delegation participating in the scientific demonstration.

This festival, which runs from February 30 to May 2, 2026, is an exceptionally interactive scientific space, bringing together astronomy enthusiasts from various groups, through a rich program that includes scientific lectures, applied workshops, interactive exhibitions, planetarium classes, in addition to educational activities directed at children and youth, and an interesting scientific play.
The Sahrawi delegation organized an exhibition to introduce the Sahrawi issue on the sidelines of the event, and the writer Hama Al-Mahdi will also give a lecture as part of the forum’s activities entitled “The Impact of Astronomical Heritage on Modern Media Content.” (SPA)
