Before this episode, which was recorded and shared on social media, Pahlavi expressed his support for the US and Israeli military offensive against Iran, classifying it as a “humanitarian intervention” necessary to overthrow the regime in Tehran, according to the Turkish news agency Anadolu.
“The attack on the regime’s infrastructure and its instruments of coercion was exactly something that the Iranian people asked for”, he considered during the press conference in the center of Berlin, where demonstrations took place for and against Pahlavi, who is expected to have meetings with German politicians from different parties.
On the same occasion, he criticized the ceasefire between Washington and Tehran. “I’m not saying that diplomacy shouldn’t be given a chance, but I think it has already been given enough opportunities,” said Pahlavi, 65, son of the last Shah of Iran, overthrown by the Islamic Revolution in 1979, led by ayatollah Khomeini.
