Last year, “Bendrystės tiltas” attracted a lot of attention from Klaipėda residents and city guests, so it was left in the city for the entire warm season, until October. According to the meters installed near the bridge, as many as 363 thousand people used it last year. It is expected that it will attract no less interest this year, and if conditions are favorable, it is planned to leave the bridge even longer – even until November.
This year, the bridge returns even more improved – more comfortable, safer and visually brighter. The updated structures will provide more space for movement, making it more convenient for both pedestrians and water transport passing under it.
One of the most important changes is the increased height of the passage, which will now reach 2.45 meters. This will allow even taller people to walk comfortably without worrying about safety. The bridge itself has also been raised – it will rise above the water about 0.5 meters higher than last year, so taller ships will be able to pass under it.
This year, the Layher bridging system, which is extremely rare in Lithuania, is used only for bridges. This technology allows you to avoid additional cables or supports in the water, so the structure will be more stable, more aesthetic, and the walkway will be higher. Structural elements are also optimized: narrower support towers and less ballast.
The bridge will become not only a convenient connection between the shores of Dane, but also a lively scene of the city. The main day of the Italian Days festival will host an exclusive opening performance here.
On May 1st, Friday, at 5 p.m., on the “Bendrystės tilto” Klaipėda residents, the artist Liepa, the Klaipėda Blue Choir, will give a concert, as well as the performance will be organized by the radio station Laluna. Especially for this occasion, a safe two-level structure will be installed on the bridge, which will allow the audience to watch the performance in a unique format – the performers will perform at different heights.
This year, the “Community Bridge” will acquire an additional symbolic meaning – it will be decorated with the sign of the year of social responsibility – a four-leaf clover and the slogan “Caring inspires to create community”. This message emphasizes the importance of community and responsibility in city life, so the aim is to make the bridge not only a convenient crossing point, but also a strong symbolic accent, inviting citizens and guests to come together, experience culture and fellowship in the heart of the city.
