The Iraqi President said in a statement published on the X website: “Based on our constitutional responsibilities, we assigned the candidate of the largest parliamentary bloc, Mr. Ali al-Zaidi, to form the new government, and thus we completed the third stage of the constitutional entitlement, which could not tolerate delay. We wish him success in forming a strong national government that represents all Iraqis and meets their aspirations. We call on all political forces to support him and cooperate with him to accelerate the completion of this constitutional and national entitlement in the interest of Iraq.” And his people.”

Statement of the Iraqi coordination framework

The Media Department of the Coordination Framework said in a statement, “Today, Monday, the Coordination Framework held its important meeting in the government palace in Baghdad, which represents a symbolism for the continuation of state institutions and the seat of the executive authority that emerges from the will of our Iraqi people.”

She added: “At the beginning of the meeting, the leaders of the framework praised the national and responsible performance provided by the government of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani during a period of three and a half years in the face of economic, regional and international challenges, and what was achieved from the government program, especially on the path of development, and the restoration of the confidence of the Iraqi citizen in his political and electoral system, which was clearly evident through the widespread participation in the recent parliamentary elections.”

The coordination framework appreciated the responsible historical positions of the head of the State of Law coalition, Nouri Kamel al-Maliki, and the head of the Reconstruction and Development Coalition, Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani, by waiving the candidacy for the presidency and forming the next government, in a step that confirms concern for the highest national interests, facilitating overcoming the political impasse, and to provide the opportunity for the coordination framework to choose the candidate who matches the specifications required to fill the position of Prime Minister, and is commensurate with the requirements and challenges of the stage.

The statement continued, “After considering the names of the candidates, Ali Al-Zaidi was chosen to be the candidate of the Coordination Framework Bloc, as the largest bloc in the House of Representatives, to occupy the position of Prime Minister and form the next government.”

    Who is Ali Al-Zaidi?

Ali Al-Zaidi was born in Qar and comes from an Arab family. He has academic qualifications, the most important of which are: “Master’s in Finance and Banking – Bachelor’s in Finance and Banking – Bachelor’s in Law.”

The positions he held were: “Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Holding Company – Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Anbiya University – Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ashtar Medical Institute – Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank of the South (formerly) – Member of the Iraqi Bar Association.”
