Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn welcomed the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic to the Kingdom of Cambodia, Sonexay Vannaxay, yesterday for high-level talks to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
During a courtesy call at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Sokhonn congratulated Vannaxay on his appointment and confirmed Cambodia’s full support for the success of his diplomatic mission.
In response, Vannaxay expressed gratitude for the warm reception and thanked the ministry’s leadership for their enduring partnership with the Lao Embassy. He pledged to further expand the “excellent relations” between the two neighbouring nations across all sectors, including trade and regional security.
The meeting underscores the strong diplomatic bond between Cambodia and Laos, particularly as both nations seek to enhance connectivity within the ASEAN framework. This leadership transition at the embassy is seen as a strategic opportunity to refresh and strengthen long-standing cross-border initiatives and mutual interests.
