KUCHING (April 28): A total of 378 graduates received their scrolls at the Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus graduation ceremony held here on Tuesday.
The ceremony saw 282 undergraduate degrees conferred across multiple disciplines: 117 in business, 80 in computing, 40 in engineering, 23 in design, 11 in science, 10 in media and communications, and one double degree in Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Robotics and Mechatronics) and Bachelor of Computer Science.
Diplomas were awarded to 64 graduates, comprising 27 in business management, 18 in digital media design, 12 in information technology, four in accountancy and three in early childhood education.
At the postgraduate level, 18 received the Master of Business Administration (International), three for Master of Information Technology, and two for Master of Engineering (Research).
The university also celebrated nine Doctor of Philosophy graduates from the fields of business, engineering and science. An additional 65 graduates received their awards in absentia.
Swinburne University of Technology chancellor Prof John Pollaers presided over the ceremony, and in his speech told the graduates that their qualifications were a passport to an exciting future.
“Swinburne is the place where you discover new ways of thinking, form lasting connections, and experience light-bulb moments that have the potential to change how you see the world. Now, another adventure awaits you.
“These qualifications are a passport that excites your future—one where you have the opportunity to help shape advanced technology for the greater good and the kind of world we all want to live in.
“Technology is transforming how we live and work. Artificial intelligence is reshaping industries and daily life. We are navigating complex global challenges like climate change and political uncertainty, alongside profound demographic shifts and ongoing work of building more inclusive societies,” he said.
Also present was Swinburne acting vice-chancellor Prof Simon Ridings, Swinburne Sarawak board of directors chairman Datuk Amar Jaul Samion, and Swinburne Sarawak pro vice-chancellor and chief executive officer Prof Lau Hieng Ho.
