On-line/Economists Pedro Monreal and Ricardo Torres, from the Cuba Transformación initiative, and sociologists Mayra Espina and Elaine Acosta will participate in the virtual seminar After egalitarianism: social protection for a Cuba in transformationdedicated to analyzing the social challenges of economic reforms on the Island.
The meeting is based on a fundamental question: who assumes the costs of economic adjustments and how to protect the most vulnerable sectors? Specialists will address the distributive consequences of the reforms and the need to design social protection policies that avoid deepening existing inequalities.
The discussion will allow us to examine the limitations of the Cuban egalitarian model and the alternatives to build more effective assistance mechanisms, capable of addressing income differences, poverty conditions and the specific needs of different population groups.
The seminar is part of the activities of Cuba Transformación, an initiative dedicated to the analysis and formulation of proposals for the economic and social future of the country.
Participation requires prior registration through the form enabled by the organizers.
