UWP Candidate for the Castle Bruce Constituency Ernie Jno Finn expressed that the UWP’s endorsement of her as a candidate is a testament to her commitment to progress, integrity, and service.
She began her speech at the UWP press conference with a pointed quote from Plato which elicited laughter from the crowd ”One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors.”
Jno Finn underscored her point by expressing the challenges she faced during her bid for the 2019 General Elections.
“I also celebrated an overnight victory. It was short-lived because this victory was stolen the following day. But along the way, I learned many valuable lessons,” she said. “ These lessons will be the foundation upon which this new chapter will be built.”
I’m elated to be here again, ready to serve with integrity, with honesty, dedication and a clear focus on the issues that matter most to the people of the Castle Bruce Constituency.
“My campaign will be built on transparency, inclusivity, and empowerment,” she stated. “ I will do my best to improve the lives of the people of the Castle Bruce Constituency by creating the environment where there will be communication once again. Ensure better healthcare, protecting the environment and generally caring for the needs of the people of this constituency.”
Jno Finn indicated that the Castle Bruce Constituency is faced with many issues that need urgent attention.
The Castle Bruce Secondary School, the additional classrooms there which also started many years ago and which has stopped on many occasions , the Castle Bruce Secondary School need their space and therefore these additional classrooms will be completed…,” she revealed.
Furthermore, Jno Finn argued that the people from Petite Soufriere and Good Hope were promised relocation after being affected by a Trough system, “and I remember hearing one of the ministers say the houses will begin this September and that was last year, 2025.”
“ To this day, not a stone has been placed,” she argued. “These people will be relocated.”
She further argued that there are still some people without proper housing.
“These people must be taken care of and they will be taken care of, because a government is elected to serve the people regardless of your political affiliation,” she stated.
