The months that Leo XIV is preparing to experience between May, June and July will be full of meetings. The Holy See Press Office today released the programs of the pastoral visits – already announced last February 19 – that the Pontiff will carry out in Italy. With one more appointment than what has already been said: the pastoral visit to the Sapienza University of Rome, on 14 May.
In the University of Rome, the largest in Europe, the Pontiff, after praying in the university chapel, will have a private conversation with the rector, and then address the teachers and students gathered in the Aula Magna.
As for visits to Italy, the Pope will be in Pompeii and Naples on May 8, the first anniversary of his election to the throne of Peter; in Acerra, in the “Land of Fires”, on May 23rd, to also remember the tenth anniversary of the encyclical Praised yes. Then on 20 June in Pavia and Sant’Angelo Lodigiano, both places dear to Robert Francis Prevost: the first houses the relics of Saint Augustine, founder of the religious order to which the Pope himself belongs; the second preserves the heart of Saint Francesca Cabrini, founder of the congregation of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, born in Sant’Angelo Lodigiano but died in Chicago, birthplace of Leo XIV.
Finally, on 4 July the Bishop of Rome will be in Lampedusa, an island symbol of migratory landings.
