Sihanoukville police have arrested four foreign nationals and seized illegal narcotics and a firearm, after one of them was seen brandishing the weapon in public.
The operation was carried out under the command of General Sao Sokha, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and Commander of the Royal Cambodian Military Police, Mang Sineth, Governor of Preah Sihanouk province, Brigadier General Heng Bunti, Commander of the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Military Police, and Vuth Savy, Deputy Prosecutor of the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Court, on Wednesday morning.
The raid came after a Chinese national was seen brandishing a weapon in front of the Planet Entertainment Club in village 4, commune 4, Preah Sihanouk province, at 10am on Wednesday.
Immediately after receiving the information, the Crime Investigation and Suppression Department, led by Department Director Lieutenant Colonel Sour Sorn, in coordination with Vuth Savy, Deputy Prosecutor of the Provincial Court, arrested Li Fang, 33, residing in village 3, commune 1, Sihanoukville city, and seized a firearm and ammunition.
At 12:00pm, the special forces went to the Mei Hao Wang Fu Hotel in village 1, commune 3, and arrested two more suspects: Hu Guofeng, 49, and Zhang Zifang, 30, both from the same village as the hotel.
Police seized three mobile phones, one wristwatch, one passport, three room cards, one Chinese ID card, and $700.
At 13:00pm, special forces in the same village arrested Yang Yang, 36, residing in village 3, commune 1.
The authorities seized evidence including: four mobile phones, one passport, two Chinese and one Cambodian driving licences, one Chinese ID card, one Hong Kong entry permit, and drugs.
All three are in custody pending further legal procedures.
