The financial situation of one of the former giants of the collection and export of fruits and vegetables, “Top Fruits”, formerly “Doni Fruits”, seems to have deteriorated significantly, while new names are being added to the list of institutions, executors and businesses that require the fulfillment of obligations.
The company is currently owned 50% by Ejup Ahmeti and 50% by “Gjonaj Group Holdings”, a company owned by businessman Marin Gjonaj. The latter joined the company at the end of 2023, when his group bought for about 142.5 million ALL the quota owned by Burim Ahmeti. A few weeks later, the name was changed from “Doni Fruits” to “Top Fruits”.
But the entry of the new partner does not seem to have changed the progress of the company. The company continues to face financial claims, enforcement actions and litigation.
Recently, Skyweb.al has been informed of a letter from the Court of First Instance of the Fier General Jurisdiction, through which “Top Fruits” is called to appear in a civil court process.
The lawsuit that has as its object “the fulfillment of the contractual obligation” was filed by the businessman Artur Hatija, who is active in the sector of production and supply of fruits and vegetables.
What stands out is that the court declares that it could not notify the company with a summons!
This happens even though “Top Fruits” has an official address declared in the CKB: Karbunarë e Poshtme, the first kilometer of the Lushnjë-Berat highway, property no. 839/29, cadastral area 2087.
The legal problems come at a time when sequestration measures have been imposed on the company’s shares. In March 2026, a private enforcement office ordered the conservative seizure of Top Fruits shares and Ejup Ahmet’s share, prohibiting changes to the commercial register.
The historical extract shows that the company faced further sequestration measures in 2021 and 2023, which were subsequently lifted. This proves that the clashes with the creditors did not appear only during the last months.
Company ownership structure
Another major financial claim comes from the Agency for Agricultural and Rural Development. According to the lawsuit documents published earlier, AZHBR requests the return of the grant received for the construction of a collection point in Lushnja, along with late interest and penalties.
The investment was estimated at around 230 million ALL, of which 86 million ALL was financed by IPARD and 28.7 million ALL from the state budget. The claim for restitution, together with penalties, is calculated at over 1.5 million euros.
The grant was approved in 2019, when the company was owned by Burim and Ejup Ahmeti. The obligation, however, rests on the company regardless of subsequent changes in ownership.
In 2021, MP Erion Braçe stated that the company owned one of the largest export points of fruit and vegetables, but had also benefited from significant state support.
Company heading for bankruptcy?
Skyweb.al also analyzed the financial statements declared by “Top Fruits” for the year 2025. The figures show that the income from the main activity fell from 294.3 million ALL in 2024 to only 755 thousand ALL, a decrease of 99.7%.
The total operating income decreased from 308 million to 34.3 million ALL, while the company closed the year with a loss of around 9 million ALL.
At the end of 2025, “Top Fruits” had 872.6 million ALL in liabilities, of which 354.1 million ALL to financial institutions.

The company still has positive capital of 197.6 million ALL, so it cannot be considered formally bankrupt, but the almost total decline in activity, losses, high debts, sequestration of quotas and court proceedings show a company under strong financial pressure.
It remains to be seen whether the partners will inject new capital and whether Top Fruits will manage to collect the amounts stated on the balance sheet in order to meet the obligations to the creditors who are demanding their money. /skyweb.al
