The Electoral Office has concluded its investigation into a complaint concerning alleged duplicate names on the voters’ list for the Roseau North constituency.
Chief Elections Officer Anthea Joseph said the office formally acknowledged the complaint submitted by the United Workers Party’s Roseau North candidate, Daniel Lugay, and subsequently examined the concerns raised.
Speaking to the media on August 20, Joseph said the investigation found no instances of duplicate voter registrations among persons residing within the Roseau North District.
She explained that while several names may appear more than once on the list, the individuals involved are different people who reside in different locations and have different dates of birth.
The clarification comes as preparations intensify for the Roseau North by-election. Nomination Day is Friday, August 21, while voters will head to the polls on September 7, 2026.
The Electoral Office’s findings are expected to provide further clarification as candidates and political parties continue their preparations for the upcoming vote.
In addition to Daniel Lugay, DLP’s Ashma McDougal, and Independent Candidate Sherman Boston round out the three candidates vying for the position of Roseau North MP.
