The Electoral Office of Dominica has commenced the production of new Voter Identification Cards, which will remain valid for a decade from the date they are issued.
Chief Elections Officer Anthea Joseph made the announcement during a media briefing at the Electoral Office Press Room in Roseau on Thursday.
Joseph explained that the distribution exercise was initially launched in the Roseau North constituency before being extended to voters in
Roseau Central and Roseau South.
The expansion forms part of the Electoral Office’s ongoing efforts to provide eligible voters with updated identification cards ahead of future elections.
The Chief Elections Officer urged voters in the affected constituencies to take note of the rollout and participate in the process as required.
With the new cards carrying a 10-year validity period, the initiative is expected to provide voters with a longer-lasting form of electoral identification while supporting the administration of the country’s electoral system.
