NDI has published a survey of public opinion, where, among other things, it is emphasized that the increase in product prices and the price of energy are among the main concerns of the citizens of Kosovo for the next year, Gazeta Express reports.
According to him DATA published by NDI, 56.6% of citizens list the increase in prices as the biggest challenge.
A little over 43% of respondents see the price of electricity as a problem. After that, other concerns are unemployment with 40.2%, corruption with 18.1%, public safety with 14.7%, dialogue with Serbia with 11.2% and inter-ethnic tensions with 7.8%.
In the NDI research, it also talks about the things that are more difficult for the family to afford financially. There it is known that utility bills (electricity, water, etc.) are difficult to afford for 62.3% of the respondents. Which is followed by food products – 46.9%; Health care – 29.8%; Repayment of debts / loans – 20.8%; Clothing and other daily goods – 11.2%; Food in restaurants – 9.6%; Holidays – 7.1%; Transport – 7.0%; Child care – 6.8%; Luxury goods – 6.5%; Housing / rent – 5.9%; Entertainment and social activities – 5.5%; Education – 5.3%.
NDI respondents were also asked about the “three biggest threats to democracy in Kosovo”, where 41.1% of the citizens answered saying that it is corruption. After corruption, another threat is economic inequality with 37.0% of respondents; Lack of accountability of politicians – 33.35; Weakening of the rule of law – 26.3%; Lack of trust in institutions – 26.3%; Spreading false information or disinformation – 20.3%; Political polarization – 18.5%; Foreign intervention in the affairs of Kosovo – 12.0%; Decrease in media freedom – 10.6%; Armed conflict / war – 9.0%; Media bias – 5.5%; Erosion of civil liberties – 4.7%; Education – 5.6%.
