At the invitation of the Food Safety Inspection Authority of the Republic of Armenia, the assessment group of the “Sustainable Laboratories” initiative of the “Efficient Veterinary Services” (PVS) program of the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) is in Armenia.
Under the leadership of Dr. Andre de Oliveira Mendonça, the group of experts will, within the next ten days, carry out the work of evaluating the laboratory capabilities of the veterinary services operating in our country and the “Republican Veterinary Sanitary and Phytosanitary Laboratory Services Center” under the Ministry of Health.
Hosting the evaluation group, the head of the inspection body, Tigran Petrosyan, emphasized the exceptional importance of the initiative in the process of modernization of the veterinary system of the province and bringing it into line with international standards.
“I am sure that it will contribute to the strengthening of veterinary services, the adaptation of laboratories to international standards and the most effective protection of animals and public health,” said the head of the Ministry of Health.
Dr. Andre de Oliveira Mendonsa, welcoming the constructive approach of the Armenian side, expressed hope that with the new methodology used by them for the first time, they will be able to carry out an accurate assessment of laboratory capabilities and contribute to the improvement of veterinary and laboratory services, quality management systems in Armenia, support in developing a long-term development strategy, as well as developing the professional abilities of the staff.
