A poll organized by the media group “Panorama Group” aimed to measure citizens’ support for the name they would prefer at the head of a transitional government.
This demand has been articulated for a month in the nightly protests of thousands of Albanians in the square, who demand the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and the creation of a new government. This government with a one-year mandate from the organizers of the protest will prepare free and equal elections.
The survey was done in several cities of the country and different ages were asked. According to the survey results, 80 percent support SPAK and 78 percent of respondents are in favor of the former head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, as the most potential candidate for leading such a government. This support is related to the perception of some citizens about his work in the fight against corruption and the criminal prosecution of high-level officials.
During the leadership of the Special Prosecutor’s Office, Altin Dumani was identified with high-profile investigations against former ministers, ministers and other high officials, as well as with issues related to organized crime and economic crime. SPAK’s activity during his mandate was accompanied by a number of investigations and requests for security measures and arrests of public officials.
According to the survey, one of the most important moments of Duman’s mandate was the request to the Assembly for the authorization of the procedures related to the former deputy prime minister Belinda Balluku. The surveyed citizens present this as evidence of his firm approach to the investigation of high-ranking officials, noting that he completed his mandate in December 2025 without withdrawing from the priority of the fight against corruption.
According to this point of view, Altin Duman’s supporters consider his figure related to institutional independence, determination in the exercise of his duties and facing corruption, even in circumstances that, according to public statements, have been accompanied by pressure and threats.
For the first time after the creation of SPAK, public opinion saw that investigations touched high levels of political power, creating the perception that no one was completely immune from the law. For a part of citizens, Dumani symbolizes institutional independence, determination and law enforcement without political differences.
He dispelled the myth of impunity and with his dedication showed that the immunity of high-profile political figures is a thing of the past. Duman showed that an honest man with the force of the law can bring to justice even those in power who have put their hands in the citizens’ pockets. Altin Duman’s free force set a standard in justice, with the strong message that “no one will be spared, regardless of the power or position they hold”.
The iron prosecutor gave a strong lesson to politics, but also to the world of crime, which he hit at the roots. So when trust in the political class is low, figures coming from the justice system can be seen as more reliable alternatives. Altin Dumani is the person who brought hope and faith in justice. But the respondents also want to trust him with the leadership of a new government, which can return the institution of free vote to Albanians.
