Authorities from Pierce County confirmed that the investigation is still ongoing and that they are trying to determine all the circumstances of the accident – from the driver’s possible medical condition and possible illnesses, to possible alcohol or opiate consumption, to the technical condition of the vessel itself.
The American media state that a key part of the investigation could be witness statements and possible surveillance camera or cell phone recordings that recorded the moments before the attack. A toxicological examination of the ship’s operator is also expected, in order to rule out or confirm the possibility that he was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
