Doha – Qena:
Today, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education announced the reopening of applications for educational vouchers through the “Maaref” public services portal, based on its keenness to provide this opportunity to the largest possible segment of deserving Qatari students in a way that enhances equal educational opportunities through the social responsibility project implemented by the Ministry in cooperation with private schools and kindergartens, and allows deserving students to benefit from various educational options in accordance with the approved controls and requirements.
The Ministry explained, in a statement, that it had made updates to the admission conditions, the most prominent of which was raising the upper limit for the family’s actual income, after deducting all financial obligations, to 35 thousand riyals per month.
In this context, Dr. Rania Muhammad, Director of the Private Schools and Kindergartens Department and Acting Director of the Private Schools Licensing Department at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, confirmed that the social responsibility project launched by the Ministry in partnership with private schools and kindergartens continues to expand the scope of its support for deserving families, pointing out that the project currently provides more than 9,000 school seats distributed into four categories that include completely free seats, discounted seats, and seats designated for students with disabilities, in addition to seats supported by an educational voucher.
She pointed out that the project includes about 2,400 seats at the value of the educational voucher, indicating that these seats allow parents to register their children in schools that join the educational voucher system without incurring any additional tuition fees, even if the school’s annual fees exceed the value of the educational voucher, amounting to 28 thousand Qatari riyals, as the license holder is responsible for paying the difference as part of his contribution to the social responsibility project.
She noted that the Ministry introduced an important update to the controls for benefiting from seats supported by the educational voucher, by raising the maximum effective family income from 25,000 riyals to 35,000 riyals per month, which contributes to expanding the circle of beneficiaries of this initiative.
Dr. Rania Muhammad highlighted that what is meant by the family’s actual income “is not only the salary contained in the official salary certificate, but rather the remaining income after deducting all financial obligations incurred by the family,” noting the need for the guardian to present the original salary certificate along with documents proving other financial obligations when applying to take advantage of the available seats.
She confirmed that parents of Qatari citizens who meet the conditions can submit their applications electronically through the “Maaref” portal on the Ministry’s website, and attach all the required documents to complete the application procedures and benefit from the eligible seats.
