Households in Kučki Koriti were without electricity for three days, when the area of the capital was affected by a strong storm, which caused an increased number of breakdowns and disturbances in the distribution network in the wider area of Podgorica, including the “Ubli” transmission line.
This is what the Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System (CEDIS) told “Vijesta”, responding to questions related to the allegations of some locals and tourist workers from Korit that problems with electricity supply are more common than that.
“Twelve days in June we had problems with electricity, and now for three consecutive days”, one of the locals told the newsroom. Vasilije Prelevicand added that every power outage causes other problems, that for water supply they use pumps and hydrophores that work on electricity.
CEDIS told “Vijesta” that households in Kučki Coriti are supplied with electricity from the 10 kV “Ubli” transmission line, which is fed from the 35/10 kV “Ubli” substation.
“In the subject area, there are five hourly transformers with a transmission ratio of 10/0.4 kV, a power of 160 – 250 kVA, and the low-voltage and medium-voltage networks are in a technically correct condition. When you talk about the daily power outages in this part of the Capital City, for the sake of accurate and precise reporting to the public, we must point out that the interruptions in the supply of electricity occurred in the last three days. More precisely, in the period from the 22nd to June 25, 2026,” they said.
During those days, the area of the Capital City was affected by a pronounced storm accompanied by heavy rainfall, hail, strong gusts of wind and intense atmospheric discharges.
“Such weather conditions caused an increased number of breakdowns and disturbances in the distribution network in the wider area of Podgorica, including the supply line of the DV 10 kV ‘Ubli’. Despite the difficult working conditions, CEDIS duty teams were continuously engaged on the mentioned transmission line, with the aim of establishing the electricity supply as quickly as possible”, they state in the answer.
As they said, expert teams “went out to the field without delay, performed diagnostics, eliminated malfunctions and undertook all necessary activities”:
“In order to minimize the duration of the interruption, with full respect for the prescribed safety measures for employees and users of the distribution system”.
Vasilije Prelevic is one of the founders of the NGO “Kučka Korita”. As he told “Vijesta”, problems in the supply of electricity are demotivating for caterers in Koriti, whose guests, he says, are disappointed and leave Koriti earlier than they planned. He cites as the reason that when there is no electricity, there are problems with the water supply, and the quality of the Internet network is questionable or there is no signal at all.
CEDIS said that they are aware that Korita is a very attractive vacation spot, both for users of their services and for tourists:
“Recognizing the importance of the above, CEDIS included in the Maintenance Sector Plan, an item related to the overhaul of the transmission line in question, along its entire length with the associated substations. The length of DV 10kV ‘Ubili’ is 18.2 km, and so far 16.7 km have been overhauled. Of the planned 184 pole positions, 169 have been replaced, and over 10 km of new Al/Fe 35/6mm2 rope has been installed with accompanying suspension equipment and insulators”, they state in the answer.
As they said, more than 300,000 euros have been spent on the activities so far within that investment.
“Also, on the route of the 10 kV ‘Ubli’ transmission line, there are 14 transformer stations with a voltage level of 10/0.4 kV, of which 11 transformer stations have been overhauled. Among them, all five located on the Kučki Koriti have been overhauled. In accordance with the above, we inform you that the fault that caused several hours of interruptions in power supply has just been recorded on that part of the transmission line whose overhaul is to come, and whose completion of work is expected by the end of the summer.” they state.
Cedis added that users who do not have concluded supply contracts with Eelektroprivreda and CEDIS were also registered in that area.
“We are talking about 190 users, and compared to those registered in the database of legal users, 141 of them, we come to the conclusion that the distribution network of this area is additionally burdened”, they said.
