In the dispute between the National Health Fund (CNS) and the Association of Doctors and Dentists (AMMD), mediation could soon take place. As the CNS announced on Wednesday evening, this procedure will be triggered if the AMMD does not sign the negotiated agreement within the next week.
The background to this latest development is the AMMD’s decision to terminate its agreement with the CNS at the end of October 2025. By law, the current agreement remains in force for another year, but the parties have only six months to negotiate a new agreement. This deadline expires on 30 April.
Since December, a total of six rounds of negotiations have taken place between the CNS and the AMMD. The latest discussions were held in mid-March, after which the CNS administrative board validated the new texts and sent them to the AMMD. So far, however, the AMMD’s signature is still missing.
If no agreement is reached by the end of April, the legal framework provides for mediation. Should mediation also fail to produce a result, the necessary provisions could ultimately be laid down by Grand Ducal regulation.
In its letter, the CNS stresses that it continues to act in compliance with the legal framework, with the aim of guaranteeing the continuity of care and the stability of the healthcare system.
