Elísa Dögg Moraitis Björnsdóttir has taken over the position of manager of the domestic department at Eimskip. In the Domestic Division, Elísa Dögg will be responsible for product distribution, warehouse and cold storage as well as real estate management. The field is operated at 16 establishments around the country and employs around 400 employees. This is reported in notification on Eimskip’s website.
Elísa is less than green to the job, but for many years she has worked at TVG-Zimsen, a subsidiary of Eimskip. She started working there in 2006 in the sales department. Since then, she has led the department of specific solutions in the field of maritime transport and worked as the head of the maritime and aviation department. Since 2020, she has held the position of managing director of TVG-Zimsen.
“I am looking forward to taking on a new role and am grateful for the trust shown in me,” Elisa is quoted as saying. “It will be both pleasant and exciting to take on diverse projects at Eimskip domestically and get to know the business even better.”
With a powerful background
In addition to direct work experience, Elísa has held a board seat and chaired the boards of Eimskip’s subsidiaries, as well as the North Atlantic Agency, a cooperation platform for agency and transport companies in the North Atlantic.
Elísa also has a B.Sc. degree in economics from the University of Iceland, but after studying in Iceland, she went to Australia where she completed an M.Sc. degree in economics with a focus on financial economics and economic research from the University of Sydney.
Vilhelm Már Þorsteinsson, CEO of Eimskip, welcomes the fact that Elísa applied for the job. “Elísa’s management and leadership skills, which she has shown as CEO of TVG-Zimsen for the last six years, will be important in a field that has close to 400 employees and has as diverse an operation as it actually is,” says Vilhelm further.
