Circuit damage smuggling of marine fuel the auditors of the DEOS (Economic Transactions Control Forces) of AADE succeeded, in the context of the targeted maritime controls they carry out in the country’s ports.
As emphasized in a relevant announcement, the auditors of DEOS they approached a cargo ship, with the flag of Saint Christopher and Nevis, which was moored at the port of Volos, having declared that it was transporting metal cylinders.
During the thorough inspection of the tanks and the physical counting of the fuel, inspectors found an excess of 10.4 metric tons (12,280 liters) of marine dieselwhich was not covered by any legal customs or commercial document.
According to the findings, this particular practice is a well-known method of operation of rings that obtain an illegal financial benefit at the expense of cargo ship charterers.
These quantities are falsely shown as “consumed” during voyages, resulting in the creation of undeclared stocks of fuel, which can then be illegally placed on the market.
After establishing the violation, DEOS auditors proceeded:
- In the ban on the departure of the cargo ship, with a direct request to the Central Port Authority of Volos.
- In the seizure of the entire illegal quantity of 12,280 liters of shipping diesel.
- In the imputation and imposition of the relevant customs charges, the value of which amounts to 8,855.76 euros.
The investigation continues, with the aim of finding the remaining members of the ring.
