London, June 23 (SANA) Seven European countries called on Tuesday for an immediate halt to violence in Sudan, warning of a deteriorating security situation in the city of El Obeid after it was encircled by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
The appeal came in a joint statement issued by the British Foreign Office and signed by Britain, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, and Norway, according to AFP.
The signatories expressed deep concern over escalating violence and worsening security conditions in the area.
The statement cited credible indications of an imminent attack on El Obeid, calling the situation a “critical moment” that requires urgent international action to prevent further escalation and protect civilians. It also urged the RSF to halt its offensive immediately.
