Hungarian voters—with record-high turnout— cast their ballots for members of the next National Assembly in democratic and free elections. This reflects Hungarian voters’ confidence in democracy and the integrity of the electoral system, the Liberty Coalition for Free and Fair Elections (LCFFE) international election observation mission told MTI on Sunday.
Based on their statement: following several weeks of preparatory work, on election day more than 80 LCFFE observers monitored the electoral process throughout the country. During their work, the observers checked more than 70 polling stations in 45 individual National Assembly constituencies.

Overall, the election observers assessed the general conduct of the elections and what they observed at the polling stations positively, and
did not encounter any significant incidents that would have substantially affected the integrity or proper conduct of the electoral process.
They added that the vote-counting committees were adequately prepared to accommodate voters requiring special attention, including those with disabilities. For those who were unable to cast their ballots in person, the option of using a mobile ballot box was provided. Every voter received two ballots (one for the national list and one for an individual candidate), and the use of voting booths ensured the secrecy of the vote.

They reported that election observers encountered incidents during their work, but neither individually nor collectively did these indicate a failure to meet European election standards. Based on press reports and information from election authorities, a small number of significant incidents did occur, mostly linked to opposition parties—for example, a bodyguard of a leading opposition candidate entered a polling station wearing a party badge— however, these did not substantially affect the proper conduct of the elections.
The organization stated:
Members of the election commissions did not object to the presence of international observers—which serves as a guarantee of free and fair elections—and answered all questions regarding the conduct of the elections.”
The election commissions consisted of members delegated by all political parties, as well as independent members elected by local governments. Voters freely exercised their right to vote, they emphasized.
The Liberty Coalition’s election observation mission continues its work and will provide further information and an assessment of the entire electoral process, including the campaign period. During this period, attempts at influence by foreign actors—including supranational entities—caused serious concern, as well as threats to Hungary’s energy security from Ukraine, according to the organization’s statement.
