Outgoing Prime Minister Viktor Orbán expressed concern following a dramatic security incident on Saturday evening, when an armed man stormed a Secret Service checkpoint at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, D.C., prompting a rapid response from agents and the evacuation of President Donald Trump.
According to authorities, on Saturday evening, a man armed with a shotgun, a handgun, and several knives stormed a Secret Service checkpoint set up at the venue of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Amid the ensuing gunfight, the man charged toward the main hall, where U.S. President Donald Trump was seated. The assailant fired at a Secret Service agent but missed his target. He was apprehended before he could get close.

The attacker is 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen, a resident of Torrance, California, CNN reported. He worked as a teacher and video game developer.
After Trump was evacuated from the dinner venue, he held a press conference at the White House, where he told reporters that the attacker had shot an officer at close range, but thanks to a bulletproof vest, the officer was not seriously injured.
Photos shared by Trump on social media showed Allen lying on the ground without a shirt, and a video showed the attacker running past several armed security guards. As he passed them, one of the guards appeared to draw his weapon.

Two months ago, another man, also armed with a shotgun, attempted to kill the U.S. president, hirado.hu reported. Trump was not at his Mar-a-Lago estate at the time. Outgoing prime minister and close ally to Donald Trump, Victor Orbán, reacted to the news on his X page, writing: “Troubled by the news of the attempted shooting of President Donald Trump at an event in Washington. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and Melania. There’s no place for violence in politics!”
