Doha – Al Raya:
The Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) announced the awarding of a group of new project contracts to develop and enhance the main electricity network in the Western Region, after selecting a number of qualified local and international companies.
Kahramaa said that the eligible companies include Voltage Engineering Limited, Best & Betas Alliance, Larson & Toubro, and LS Cables. The contracts come as part of strategic plans to connect the Dukhan solar energy project to the electricity grid in the western region. The contracts include engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) work to build and upgrade electrical stations, in addition to extending cables and overhead lines.

These projects come as part of Kahramaa’s ongoing efforts to enhance the connection with the Dukhan Solar Energy Project, in order to achieve a safe and efficient connection, enhance the network’s ability to absorb renewable energy, raise the network’s efficiency, and improve its flexibility. The total value of the contracts amounts to more than 2.2 billion Qatari riyals, in a step that reflects the size of the investments allocated to raise the network’s readiness and ensure its stability.
His Excellency Engineer Abdullah bin Ali Al-Dhiyab, President of the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation, said: “The expansion of the network in the west of the country will reflect positively on the reliability and quality of service for subscribers and meet current and future electricity needs. We are steadily advancing the development of a more flexible and efficient electricity network, capable of absorbing electricity demand and supporting security of supply.
Through these projects, Kahramaa confirms its continued commitment to developing a highly efficient electrical infrastructure. The Corporation also continues to implement its strategic plans to raise the reliability of the network and improve the quality of services provided to subscribers, in order to keep pace with the rapid growth in demand and support development needs in various regions of the country.
