US President Donald Trump praised the “brave” Volodymyr Zelenskyi, assessing that the Ukrainian president is “holding up well” in the war against Russia, Sky News reported.
The US president’s comments come after Ukrainian forces destroyed an important railway bridge in Crimea in an attempt to further isolate the Russian-occupied peninsula.
During a White House meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Sky News US correspondent Mark Stone asked Trump if he thought Zelensky was winning the war.
— Holds up well, however you look at it. To say the least, it’s holding up. A lot of people die on both sides, but I think it holds up pretty well. It must be said that he is brave. It has great equipment, but there are also great people, fighters — said Trump.
The leaders of Germany, France, Italy, Poland and the United Kingdom, known as the “E5” group, at a meeting in Berlin reaffirmed their support for Ukraine and announced continued pressure on Russia.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer assessed that Moscow is facing increasing military losses and economic difficulties, which is why, according to him, dissatisfaction with Vladimir Putin’s war is growing.
Starmer said that this is a key moment for new sanctions against the Russian economy and for increased military aid to Kiev.
British Foreign Minister Yvette Cooper, on the other hand, announced a package of almost 290 million pounds for the reconstruction and energy security of Ukraine, stressing that London will continue to support the country both in the war and in its recovery.
Meanwhile, Ukraine continues its attacks on Russian energy and military infrastructure.
Ukrainian forces hit a refinery, a gas processing plant and satellite communication centers.
According to Zelensky, because of this, Moscow is redeploying anti-aircraft systems towards the capital and the Crimean bridge.
