The diplomatic “document” referred to by the prime minister was published by the Facebook group “Grubovci, Enidze Vardar – native Macedonia”. In it, in addition to the date of the trip, the approximate time when Mickoski’s wife and younger son will cross the border between Macedonia and Bulgaria is indicated, as well as details of their security
We would not have anything more to add than the Prime Minister’s statement today, Government spokeswoman Marija Miteva replied to the question – what is your information, where did the document come from, is it from the Bulgarian MFA, because it was originally published on social networks. To the question – who informed NATO, whether you, as the Government, and who is pointed out as the culprit for the leaked document, that is, what is written in the reaction to NATO, we did not receive an answer from the Government until the publication of this text.
“Sloboden Pechat” addressed these questions to the Government after the ambiguities that arose from the statement of Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski about “publicizing a diplomatic note due to the several-day stay of his wife and younger son in Pamporovo, Bulgaria, at the beginning of this year. The journalist’s question was – does he expect any change in relations with Bulgaria, and in the context of the participation of the Speaker of the Assembly, Afrim Gashi, in the conference of the Parliamentary Assembly of South-Eastern Europe in Sofia, during which the Speaker had a bilateral meeting with the Speaker of the Bulgarian Parliament, Mihalea Milcheva-Dotsova.
– Well, I don’t expect it, but the signals coming from there do not make me optimistic, on the contrary, the situation is becoming radicalized. Well, yesterday we saw a precedent in diplomacy, when a diplomatic note came out for a three-day stay of my wife and my younger son with our friends, let’s say, in Pamporovo, something that is an unusual practice in the world of diplomacy and perhaps unique as such. Now imagine if we were to pull out all the diplomatic notes that were being sent by our eastern neighbor and actually in those diplomatic notes were things written that might also be of interest to the public. So yesterday I saw a precedent – Mickoski said.
He added that he had already informed Macedonia’s partners in NATO about the case, because the publication of the diplomatic note, as he said, threatens the safety of his family. He apologized to his wife and younger son for having to endure all this.
– However, we are a NATO member country. I use this opportunity to apologize to my wife and my younger son Antonio for having to endure all this. But all these indicators that we see do not say that we are moving towards improvement, but on the contrary, they have some amateurish moves, which for me are totally unreasonable and unclear. But anyway, let’s stay focused on what our task is, which is to deliver on the reform agenda, do the reforms at home, build the economy, grow, etc. That is what our task as the Government is, let them do their job, we do the job for which we were elected by the citizens, and that is to deliver projects and solve problems – said Mickoski.
The diplomatic note that Mickoski is talking about is a letter dated January 6 of this year, with which the Macedonian embassy in Sofia informs the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria that the wife and one of the sons of the prime minister will travel to Pamporovo, Bulgaria, on January 8. The diplomatic document was published on social networks last week.
As can be seen in the diplomatic document, published by the group “Grubovci, Enidze Vardar – native Macedonia”, in it, in addition to the date of the trip, the approximate time when Mickoski’s wife and younger son will cross the border between Macedonia and Bulgaria, as well as details of their security – the names of its members, the vehicles they travel with, the communication devices and the weapons they carry with them is indicated.
