Everything indicated that Dinamo completed one of the most important reinforcements this summer. Dor Peretz (31), the captain of Maccabi from Tel Aviv, arrived in Zagreb for the final negotiations, and Maksimir believed that his arrival was practically an agreed matter.
President Zvonimir Boban did not hide his optimism either, who said during the members’ day that he expected the Israeli midfielder to join the Blues. However, when it seemed that only the signature of the contract was missing, a reversal followed, he reports Germanic.
As Germaniak writes, Maccabi decided at the last moment to try to keep their captain. Peretz’s contract expires on June 30, which is why he was supposed to come to Dinamo as a free agent, but the Israeli club has now offered him a new contract.
According to the Israeli media, they cannot financially follow Dinamo’s offer, but they are offering a three-year contract with the possibility of extending it for another season. In Tel Aviv, they believe that long-term security could prevail and keep Peretz at the club for the rest of his career.
The same sources state that the midfielder has not yet made a final decision about Dinamo or any other option, and the outcome is expected in the next day or two.
Additional uncertainty is created by the start of Maccabi’s preparations under the leadership of new coach Kenny Miller. If Peretz shows up for the first training session, many will interpret it as a sign that he is staying in Tel Aviv.
Dinamo is therefore still waiting for a final answer. The transfer, which until recently seemed almost certain, is now again under a big question mark.
