The Environment Ministry of the parallel government announced that a 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck the central Mediterranean Sea north of the Libyan coast on Thursday.
According to the ministry, the tremor was recorded at 5:17 pm, with preliminary data indicating a depth of approximately 10 kilometers below the Earth’s surface.
The ministry said the epicenter was located offshore and away from populated areas, minimizing the risk of damage or direct impact on Libyan coastal cities. No casualties or material losses have been reported so far.
