    The Ministry of Culture opens registration for the “Ethics Award”

    Yesterday, the Ministry of Culture announced the opening of registration and receiving entries from calligraphers and creative people from various countries of the world in the second edition of the “Ethics Award – International Competition for the Art of Arabic Calligraphy,” which aims to revive this ancient art with its authentic traditional rules while highlighting the high value of “creation” as a main central idea of ​​the competition, provided that the reception of works continues until no later than Sunday, the first of November 2026.

    In this edition, the award seeks to achieve an integrated artistic and moral vision by consolidating values ​​and enhancing the status of morals in the fields of culture and arts, and emphasizing the close connection between the highness of morals and the sophistication of Arabic calligraphy, in addition to preserving heritage and caring for the art of classical Arabic calligraphy and preserving it, spreading artistic awareness and developing aesthetic taste among the public through educational and creative links, in addition to supporting creators and attracting their creativity around the world to exchange experiences and develop individual skills. To ensure the highest standards of integrity and artistic quality, the organizing committee has set a set of conditions and controls that are binding on all participants. Participation is available to calligraphers from inside and outside the State of Qatar, provided that they master the rules of authentic Arabic calligraphy. Each contestant is allowed to participate in only one work, the text of which he chooses from among the approved sentences included in the first stage list, which includes 20 proposed sentences.

    In a related context, the electronic registration form is filled out completely, and the work is sent after scanning it with a resolution of no less than 600 DPI via the designated e-mail, with the prohibition of adding the calligrapher’s signature or any indication of his identity on the face of the painting. The winners of the first three places in the first edition are not entitled to direct participation in this edition. With regard to operational standards, the use of traditional inks of various types and colors is permitted, provided that the painting is written on certified and traditionally polished paper of a size not less than 70 x 100 cm, adopting the clear third line for the first stage, and the regular third line for the second stage.

    The organizing committee called on all calligraphers wishing to participate in the competition to quickly fill out the registration form via the award’s official website. The Ministry of Culture has allocated valuable financial prizes aimed at honoring the winners and supporting their artistic and creative careers.
