The Burya robotic turret, manufactured by the Ukrainian company Frontline Robotics, received codification from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. The system was put into operation in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the manufacturer’s press service told “Oborontsi”.
“Storm” is a robotic turret designed for remote engagement of targets from closed positions.
“Modifications of the system are compatible with grenade launchers Mk 19, RDS40, AGL 53, as well as the Browning M2 machine gun and their design analogues. The turret is equipped with a built-in ballistic calculator that allows you to work according to the principle of “coordinate – shot – damage”, and also supports automatic adjustment of fire based on the actual point of impact,” the company explained.
The turret can work both on a tripod and on an NRK base, in particular, the system compensates for the angle of the platform. It has already been used on the battlefield and refined based on the results of this experience. Storm also integrates with battle management systems such as Armor and Nettle.
Frontline Robotics explained that the codification of the turret will allow to expand the possibilities of integrating the system into robotic platforms at the front.
“For us, codification is not a formality, but a confirmation that the turret works where it matters. From the beginning of the Storm, it was about a very applied task: to give the unit the opportunity to work aimed at the targets, but without unnecessary risk to people,” – Yevhen Tretyak, CEO of the company, is quoted in the release.
Earlier, Oboronka reported that the Burya robotic turret had already been integrated with various types of NRK, in particular, Ardal, Combat Gereon and THeMIS. Also a turret manufacturer Frontline Robotics since last July cooperates with a German company Quantum Systems.
